Here are some of the projects the Jeffersonville Township Public Library Foundation has helped support over the years:

(More Information Below)

Cutting Edge Multi-Media Studio

Support the Jeffersonville Township Public Library Foundation in establishing a cutting-edge Multi-Media Studio. Your donation will fund the transformation of the Lower Level Conference Room into a versatile space catering to photography, videography, and audio recording needs. With your contribution, patrons will have access to professional-grade equipment, including greenscreen technology, fostering a creative atmosphere; empowering individuals to explore their talents and refine their skills, while corporations and organizations can achieve their commercial needs for diverse applications.

This FREE innovative facility will serve the vibrant community of Southern Indiana, enabling patrons to create high-quality home videos, develop training materials for businesses and organizations, and even produce commercial-grade television, radio, and video productions. Our dedicated library staff is equipped with the expertise to guide patrons in utilizing the equipment effectively, ensuring exceptional outcomes.

While the library already possesses some of the needed equipment, and other expenses have been paid for from the library general fund, financially our fundraising goal is only a portion of the amount that is needed to make this project a reality.

Your support is crucial in acquiring the necessary resources to make this vision come true! Join us in empowering creativity and skill development at the heart of our community. Your donation will allow purchase, or upgrade of:

  • Cameras: $1,200
  • Sound Mixing Boards: $1,600
  • Microphones: $750
  • Video Editors: $1,800
  • Speakers/Headphones: $500
  • CD Printers: $1,900
  • Monitors/Greenscreens: $2,500
  • Lighting: $800

Know and Grow Play Garden – 2023 Fundraising Project

The Know and Grow Play Garden is located on the upper level terrace at the Jeffersonville branch. It opened on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. Major funding for the project was provided by the Bales Foundation.

The garden includes patio artwork, such as a rocket ship, lily pads, and a tall flower with numbered pedals. All grade schools in Clark County designed and painted rocks for the project, while middle and high school art students from Clarksville Community Schools painted book bricks. Bricks are painted like book covers, sitting atop a “river of knowledge” containing rocks painted by local elementary students. A play space toward the end of the area includes a small fairy garden.

The garden is open to everyone, from dawn to dusk, during regular library hours.

Social Emotional Learning Space at the Clarksville Public Library

Thank you, JTPL Foundation for your support in the Clarksville Library’s Social- Emotional Learning Space. The SEL Collection is already very popular among library patrons. This project began with a grant the library received from the WHAS Crusade for Children. Through this grant, the library has established a social emotional book collection and a calm corner in the youth area of the library.

SEL Book Collection

This SEL book collection consists of 8 Wonderbooks, and a book series called Name Your Emotions. The Wonderbooks are read-along books that include the print book and audio. At this time 6 of our 8 Wonderbooks are checked out.  Each title’s theme involves emotions/feelings in some way. Name Your Emotions is a 14 book series that features one emotion per book. These books help readers identify the emotion they may be feeling, and strategies to cope with these emotions. At this time all 14 books in this series are checked out.

Calm Corner

The library’s Calm Corner is a space away from the library’s play area that will allow children who are feeling big emotions and/or overwhelmed during their visit to the library to find refuge. The Calm Corner is a cozy space that has posters with tips and strategies on coping with emotions. We have also supplied this space with mindful maze boards, a see my expressions mirror, and other tools that will help with identifying and coping with emotions. We have already received positive feedback from patrons on the Calm Corner. One patron mentioned that she has seen calm corners in larger libraries and thought that our calm corner was well done and a great space. Below are photos of the Calm Corner and the books from the Name Your Emotion Series.

Future Plans for the SEL Collection

With the money raised by the JTPL Foundation we plan to purchase new books for the book collection, SEL focused tools and activities that patrons can check out, and a new book shelf that will allow us to display the items purchased for patrons. Again, thank you so much for your support of this new space in our library.

Now Open: JTPL’s Pocket Park!

What is a Pocket Park?

This will be a small, community-driven train-themed park, outside the library space on the Court Avenue side of the building in Jeffersonville.

The Jeffersonville Township Public library is leading the way by providing:

  • A highly visible, safe space to play and learn
  • Story Walk – A walk-through interactive path for children to read a story as they go for a walk around the park
  • Plenty of community seating and a performance area
  • Wheelchair accessible and features for children and adults with intellectual and physical differences
  • Free Wi-Fi Accessibility

We need your help to ensure that our work is a success. Opportunities are limited and going quickly, so make your donation or secure your sponsorship today!

A Book for Every Child is currently made possible by a generous donation from Patty Cress. Thanks to her donation, every child aged 0-17 who signs up their first library card receives a free age-appropriate book to keep! We’re hopeful this program will spark a life-time love of reading and libraries in children and teens.

“A Book for Every Child” offers a free, age-appropriate book to first-time library cardholders. Past donors of the “A Book for Every Child” program include the Lander Delap Group, Innovators Insurance, Momentum Title Agency, and Smith Broady and Associates.

If you are interested in supporting this initiative, we are currently looking for donors! Please reach out to David Seckman at dseckman@jefflibrary.org for more information.

Tom & Mary Frances Koetter Makerspace

The Foundation has been instrumental in raising money for numerous library projects, including the new Tom and Mary Frances Koetter Makerspace, located at the Jeffersonville Library location. The Foundation helped in raising the seed money necessary to buy equipment for the makerspace, as well as sponsoring special make-and-take projects to raise awareness and spark creativity and excitement in the community.

Mobile Book Tricycle

Who said books just had to be in the library?! Thanks to a generous donation from the Foundation and the Friends of the Library, the Jeffersonville Township Public Library was able to purchase a mobile book tricycle to help get their word out! The tricycle is extremely useful in our community, as we are just blocks from the Big Four Station that holds Farmers Markets, concert series, and many more outdoor events. It also allows us to visit local elementary schools to showcase some of the books we offer!
